Face to Face counselling is sometimes thought of as the more traditional approach to counselling or talking therapy.
On a one to one basis, I will explore your thoughts and feelings that can often be related to your life experiences, and I work in a confidential setting where I can listen to your problems. I am able to offer you the time, warmth and respect you may need to express your thoughts and feelings and potentially understand yourself in a way which can help.
On a face to face basis, I work with a range of counselling and psychotherapy theories including Person Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Psychoanalytical, Psychodynamic, Attachment Theory and Solution based models. This means that I am able to approach our sessions together on a client by client, unique individual way, as I will be able to draw from various theories depending on what issues you present at any given time, and taking into account how many sessions you want. This enables you to gain optimum benefit from what the theories and I in general have to offer.
I have extensive experience working for a variety of organisations including, Sunderland Mind, Sunderland Counselling Services, Concord Medical Practice, Grace House, Hope and Hospitality, Gateshead and SOuth Tyneside local authority, and Durham and Newcastle University.
An added benefit of my approach,
where you have a preference for any one or a combination of these theories,
you will have the option of making your own choice on how we proceed.
Face to Face sessions may be - short term - long term - counselling sessions. The choice is entirely yours. Once you book a counselling session with myself there is no commitment for further sessions unless you choose to carry on with the work we have managed to do so far.
I abide by the BACP and UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
